I have always loved singing and writing songs - I wrote my first song when I was 5, sitting at a piano, fascinated by the black and white keys that made sounds. What a gift it was to be able to express myself and communicate as a child through my singing voice and instruments. I still use this gift as an adult - a creative expression that promotes healing. I have taught the art of songwriting to children for 15 years. I have created songwriting courses for children ages 3 - 13, and have recorded hundreds of incredible songs that children write during my classes and lessons! Songwriting connects children to their inner-selves and helps them to self-regulate and communicate. Songwriting builds confidence and gives the writer a voice, a powerful voice. Instruments such as the piano, guitar and ukulele are naturally woven into my lessons.
I started writing children’s music as a child. As an adult, I continue to write songs for children. I do this because the power of song is magical. Throughout the years I have grown to see the great influence that music and lyrics have. I write my children’s songs very intentionally, with the idea that children get songs stuck in their heads, and will continue to repeat certain lyrics to themselves.
I have written and recorded two award winning children’s albums called Breathe In: Children’s Songs for Mindfulness and Awareness and Everyone Grows: Children's Songs for Mindfulness. In additional to receiving National Parenting Product Awards as well as a Parents’ Choice Award for my music, I have presented about children’s music and mindfulness to parents and teachers at the National Kids Yoga Conference as well as at The Young Child Expo and Conference. I have enjoyed teaching music lessons privately over the last 15 years to children ages 3 - 15. During warmer months, it has been a pleasure to play children and family concerts around NYC. Venues I have performed at include the LIC Concert Series in Grantry State Park, Hippo Playground in Central Park, Morningside Montessori Fall Fair and Rodeph Sholom School Book Fair on the Upper West Side.
I Am
I’m part of everything I see
The world is part of me
If I take care of all I see
I take care of me
Watching My Mind
Watching my mind like I watch a flower bloom
Opening slowly taking time and taking room
Each day I come to know
I can watch my mind like I watch a flower grow
